IMHO: Three Body Problem shows how human experiences can shape us in unexpected ways especially when Ye Wenjie witnessed the worst of humanity. It’s a stark reminder that hurt people, hurt people… though inviting an apex predator to subjugate humanity definitely takes that to the extreme.
This series will leave you questioning: Who are we when we’re on the brink of extinction? When hope is lost, and survival is all that’s left, what choices would we make? Food for thought.
3️⃣ Scavenger’s Reign (2023)
Lost in space? Cool. Lost on a planet full of killer plants? Less cool.

After a deep-space shipwreck, the surviving crew members must adapt to a surreal, dangerous planet. Every plant and creature has evolved with eerie intelligence, forcing the survivors to rethink what it means to coexist with nature.

IMHO: Scavenger’s Reign feels like being dropped into a living, breathing world where every organism is connected in a delicate, almost sentient ecosystem. I mean, sure, you could say the same about our own circle of life but here, one wrong move, one bad bite of an unfamiliar plant, and it’s game over.
One of the standout character arcs for me? Kamen. Not because he was particularly likable, but because of what happens when he encounters a mind-controlling creature.
Watching something non-human struggle to process emotion, desperation, loneliness, attachment—was haunting in the best way.
Visually, this series is breathtaking think Studio Ghibli meets Annihilation. It’s weird, hypnotic, and unexpectedly emotional. Don’t sleep on this one.
4️⃣ Devs (2020)
What if your future wasn’t uncertain—but already predetermined?

IMHO: I’m finally watching this, and wow, it’s dense, but the ideas will send you spiraling into existential rabbit holes. The thought of a predictive algorithm capable of seeing Jesus Christ on the cross doesn’t exactly scream quantum physics, but it does raise the terrifying question of tech corporations wielding god-like power.
So far, it’s clear that grief is clouding the CEO’s objectivity, he isn’t after empirical truth; he’s after his daughter, not infinite versions of her. That aside, I have to admit, Nick Offerman plays the hell out of a tech CEO with a god complex, and that alone makes Devs worth watching.
5️⃣ Severance (2022-Present)
Imagine splitting your work and personal memories. Now imagine the horror that follows.
Starring: Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, John Turturro | Director: Ben Stiller | IMDb Rating: 8.7/10
Employees at Lumon Industries undergo a mysterious procedure that “severs” their work memories from their personal lives. By day, they’re cogs in a machine. By night, they have no idea what they do for a living. But when one employee starts questioning everything, the cracks begin to show.

IMHO: I put this off for way too long, but now I get the hype. It’s like Black Mirror meets Office Space—but way more unsettling.
Another main character using grief as a coping mechanism by literally trying to carve out part of his brain, well, not exactly, but severing work from home via some kind of chip.
That screams Neuralink to me, imagine Tesla pulling this under Elon Musk’s elusive BOARD. After three episodes, the thought of one version of me being trapped at work forever is absolutely terrifying, especially given how much I love Fridays. On a serious note, it’s a mind-bending concept, executed to perfection.
